TRIAD Art – Hot Tropics, Secret Codes and Nature Spirits

TRIAD artists, Karen Deilke, Debra Cortese and Pamela Palma. photo: Macarena Zilveti

Just feeling my energy levels recover after all of the pre-opening preparation work AND another great TRIAD art opening this past Saturday night at VALMAR Art & Framing Gallery in the Bird Road Art District.

Karen Deilke, Pamela Palma and Debra Cortese (that would be me), have been working together to present the summer 2012 TRIAD shows (with a lot of great support and assistance from everyone at VALMAR – Chris, Claire, Michele, Donna, Leo and Doris).

If you’ve already attended TRIAD I and/or TRIAD II, you know there is one more summer exhibition to come. The Goddesses gathered together and arranged the rotation process way back in April and I was delighted to have the ‘featured’ wall during the final exhibition because…. that way I would have the necessary time to create the paintings for a new collection – Seeds of Intention. Of course, there’s a dream and many resources, interests and cosmic connections along the way that inspire artists to create and believe me, this one has been life-changing for me. I’ll have more information to share at the TRIAD III opening and YOU will be participating with the ‘intentions’ as well!

Don’t worry, it will all make sense on July 21st!

In the meantime, here’s a preview of the one of the “seed” paintings.

Big hugs of appreciation to all of our friends, fellow artists, art collectors and special thanks for the magical music of the Coconut Grove Drum Circle! We are all in this together 😉

Mark your calendar for Saturday, July 21st, 2012 and join us at VALMAR ART, 4150 SW 74th Court, Miami, FL 33155 from 7 to 10 pm. All new art, live music with Blues Guitar Man, Rob Moore and of course, complimentary refreshments.

10,000 reasons to be happy…

Here’s a sample of one of the first email messages I look forward to opening every morning:

Every single minute of every single day, they’re there, Debra.

They may be hidden behind circumstances, people, or light poles. Challenges, closed doors, or lost keys. Camouflaged, dovetailed, or whispering. Purring, kissing, or hissing. But more often than not they’re laying about in the open, under a clear blue sky, in plain view. Absolutely. Guaranteed. You’d throttle me otherwise.

10,000 reasons to be happy.

FII names “Designers to Watch, Spring 2009

In early January, the Fashion Industry Insiders held a casting call to review the work of various member designers and the turn out was outstanding! Designers were critiqued on quality, design, being on-trend, and wearability. While castings were being held, FII members had the chance to network among themselves, exchanging ideas and admiring each others’ work.

The designers chosen from this casting are the official “FII Designers To Watch.” As part of a new FII initiative, twice a year (Spring and Fall), member designers will be chosen to participate in this elite group, leading up to the year-end “FII Designer of the Year.” The two groups of designers will have the opportunity to participate in an FII-produced fashion show at a local venue, presenting specific pieces of their lines to their peers, buyers, media and clients. Our goal is to provide a platform for our designers to launch a full-scale business. This initial platform will offer exposure and open doors to magazine editorials, new industry contacts, purchase orders and the ability to grow to the next step of their career. The designer who best takes advantage of these opportunities and continues to grow as a designer, as well as in their business, will have the potential to become the “FII Designer of the Year.” This title is given to the member who best exemplifies quality artistry with a mix of business saavy.

Nature Spirits…

Orchid Angel painting detailDevas, elementals, angels, fairies, gnomes, plant and nature spirits – almost every culture throughout history shares stories and beliefs of the existence of life forms that are non-human in terms of the physical presence we are accustomed to ‘seeing’.The energy of all living things can be perceived through any of our human senses and is usually more pronounced through a particular sense depending upon an individual’s sensitivity. If you are visually oriented, it is more likely for you to see a nature spirit, and if your sense of smell is more acute, you may recognize the presence of a deva by a distinct smell.   The image here is a detail of the phaleonopsis orchid, one of my very first clear visual encounters.    You can a larger image and the full 30″ x 45″ painting here.  Orchid Angel shares the energy of nurturing, protection and healing in addition to the joy and warmth of her glorious golden colors. Combined with the mystery of  the deep, dark contrasting background color, she is a powerful and seductive presence. .
