South Miami Farmers Market January 2011

My weekend started off with my first visit to the South Miami Farmers Market and it turned out to be a delightful experience.  I tried to visit every booth, got to meet Mayor Phillip Stoddard, the organizers of the market, Mario Yanez and David Harper and talked with more than a dozen people. Everyone was friendly and eager to share recipes, gardening tips and comments about the wonderful market and perfect Florida day. I brought home some gorgeous organic veggies, farm fresh eggs and ready-to-eat stone crabs which of course we ate as soon as I got home 😉 We’ll be eating the veggies all week long! The Market is located right off of 72nd Street/Sunset Drive in front of South Miami City Hall and next to the Library and there was plenty of parking available. It runs every Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm and this coming weekend, Sat. Jan 23rd, will be the Grand Opening Celebration – lots of extra booths featuring even more irresistible foods, crafts, art and live music!

I wanted to exhibit my bags and art but unfortunately when I checked my calendar, I have a previous commitment for gallery sitting at GroveHouse Artists on Saturday afternoon.. but will visit the Market before I head to the Grove 😉
