Shelter dogs (and cats) need your help!

Shelter dogs (and cats) need your help!

As much as I’d rather just post about art and all the good things that are happening, our furry friends are in crisis. Just received the following message and there are more animals in the shelter today than ever.

MESSAGE FROM ANIMAL SERVICES June 2, 2009

* Our average intake is 2500-3500 but for the month of May, 4000 animals were admitted

* The greatest number of animals at any given time in the shelter was 467, but today we housing 565 animals

* We ran out of cages and are now putting together hurricane crates

* Please help us (even an hour or two will help) spot clean in B, C and adoptions and assist adopters-we are drowning, short staffed and really need help asap-this is  a crisis!
