3rd Annual Fairchild Artists in Bloom Exhibition
and Sale at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 15-17, 2009
Sixty-four artists, both Fairchild students and their instructors, will transform the Garden House into a gallery showcasing more than 150 original oil and acrylic paintings, watercolors and botanical illustrations. Here you will find exuberant and sedate landscapes, lush tropical fruit, riotous foliage, delicate flower details and sublime still-lifes hanging side by side in a visual feast of nature.
The exhibition and sale will be open from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm and is free with garden admission.
This exhibition and sale features artwork created during the last 5 months of art classes taught through the Lifelong Learning Center at Fairchild. Instructors engage both beginning and advanced students as they cover basics of drawing, intermediate botanical illustration, studio watercolor, or advance skills during a weekend watercolor Masterclass or En Plein Air outdoors in settings such as Everglades National Park. Sessions are often held for eight-weeks and may focus on realism, botanical illustration using watercolors, flower painting, landscape watercolor painting, drawing with graphite, or oil and acrylic painting. More than 150 classes are held each year to fit a variety of schedules. (info from Goldsmith Galleries)
