On April 7, 2009, South Florida artists gathered at Windisch-Hunt Fine Art Gallery in Coconut Grove for the first Miami Art Marketing Salon. This is a nine session course with materials provided free of charge by Alyson Stanfield, Art Biz Coach and author of I’d Rather Be In The Studio, the artist’s no-excuse guide to self-promotion.

South Miami artist and handbag designer, Debra Cortese had participated in one of Stanfield’s online marketing courses and was so impressed with the material that she made the commitment to facilitate this course for fellow artists that are interested in promoting their work and careers. The Miami Art Salon was filled to capacity on the first day and is no longer accepting registrations for this term, however, Cortese is already planning another Art Marketing Salon sometime in the fall of 2009, and she is putting together the outline for an Art Licensing workshop. It is thrilling to see everyone’s work. I got to meet everyone from the art salon and get to know them first. Every participant shines–and now I can see why. We all have passion and are eager to collaborate with other artists. We are all on a mission to make the planet a more beautiful place! And, we will. . .

  2. Cuqui Beguiristain

    Hello Debra,

The artwork looks so beautiful on the blog,
it is almost as if without knowing it you have
    curated our first virtual exhibit.

Debra, thank you for including me in the listing.
Honestly, I thought that only the artists
would be mentioned so I am honored to be
    included among such talent.

  3. Jonathan Rose

I echo Deborah’s words and add that as Program Director for the
South Florida Writers Association, I asked Debra Cortese and she
agreed to be our guest speaker at SFWA’s May 2 meeting at the
South Miami Elk’s Club (10-noon). Debra’s MIAMI ARTS MARKETING
SALON based on Alyson Stanfeld’s course is valuable to writers as
well and we cannot wait to hear Debra’s pearls of wisdom this coming
Saturday. [Phone Don at 786-877-0136 for further SFWA information.]
